Outrage in Kinchil, Yucatan: commander fired “for a few days” and with pay following complaints

KINCHIL.- The return to office of the head of the Municipal Police of Kinchil, after only a few days of suspension and with pay, generated indignation among the inhabitants of the Yucatecan municipality due to the accusations against the official.
In recent days, a citizen accused the officer of harassment and of having detained him arbitrarily, which would add to other alleged accusations against the police officer.
For this reason, a complaint was filed with the Human Rights Commission of the State of Yucatan (CODHEY) and the National Human Rights Commission (CNDH).
However, the officer only received a “pat on the back,” according to complaints made by residents of Kinchil to a digital media outlet of the municipality.
On February 10, Luis AC reported the director of the municipal police, Abraham Solís Castillo , for allegedly harassing him and an elderly woman.
According to his story, he was helping an elderly woman close her business in the face of harassment by municipal police.
This would have led to his being detained "arbitrarily", according to his complaint, handcuffed and beaten before being transferred to the municipal jail.
After being released, they allegedly robbed him of his wallet containing 17 thousand pesos and bank cards.
When the events became known to the community, the residents of Kinchil demanded the dismissal of Solías Castillo.
Finally, the Kinchil City Council – now headed by Irvin Pisté Canul of the PVEM – agreed to the citizens' demands, but only dismissed the officer for three days with pay.

Solís Castillo returned to his duties yesterday, Monday, angering citizens and sparking criticism of the police's protection, despite complaints against him before human rights organizations.
"They are one for wanting public servants, for not being judged in the same way as any other individual..." , a neighbor claimed on social media .
“They literally told him: 'please sleep, please, and come back, but calm down,'” another said publicly.
